Van Abel

Structures & Mechanical Design

Mr. Abel has over 35 years of aircraft design, analysis, manufacturing, and product engineering experience. This experience is both with civilian and military aircraft, utilizing multiple design and manufacturing methods in metallic and composite structures. Van has successfully managed product development programs from concept through FAA certification and customer delivery. Van has experience in structural analysis on a wide variety of composite and metallic aircraft, serving as a structures Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for the FAA from 1997 to 2006. Van has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, is a licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with FAA Inspection Authorization and an active Cessna 182 owner and pilot with instrument rating.

Philip Olson

Mechanical & Electrical Design

Mr. Phil Olson has over 35 years of mechanical and electrical design/design oversight of new product development for a major aircraft OEM. During that time, he played key roles in the development of 7 major projects ranging from a 2-place light sport aircraft to complex mid-sized business jets including power distribution, circuit protection, cockpit layout/ switching/lighting, exterior lighting, wire bundle assembly/routing, avionics integration and certification documentation. Prior to that, Mr. Olson performed new product design for Foxjet International and The Dee Howard Company. Mr. Olson obtained a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with an Aviation Option from LeTourneau University in 1977. He holds an active Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic License with Inspection Authorization. He is an active Instrument Rated Private Pilot (1450 hrs) and owns a Cessna 150.
